Durham-based Eno River women’s rugby club won a friendly against UNC and matrix matches against Southern Pines and Asheville.
Eno defeated UNC women’s club 59-26 in Chapel Hill behind 4 tries from Chelsea “Hollywood” Masters as they prepared for matrix match with Charlotte, bringing together fundamentals they’ve been focusing on in practice.
Claire “Tipsy” Tipton scored twice, Erika Luke got her first-ever try, Lauren “Smurf” Sheridan, Patsy Darden also scored. Jill Casey added 5 kicks, Dylan Delisle 2. Halftime was 26-12. UNC brought a high level of fitness and intensity.
Earlier, Eno crushed an under-manned Southern Pines 55-5 in Chapel Hill. They had only 14 players and played down 1-2 the entire match. Eno scorers included Tipton and Vivian Lee 2 each, Carol Trammell, Charli Randolph, Bekah Thomas, Courtney Holmes, Tegan Oliver. Casey made 5 of 9 conversions.
Eno edged Asheville 17-15 on the road. Halftime was 12-10. Masters, Sheridan and Julia Notar were the scorers. Casey converted one kick. Asheville had no subs but played a hard game on their home turf. Eno did well on possessions but struggled to keep up on transitions. Eno also won the social, with Casey and Notar honored as back and forward of the match.
The club is holding a Drag Show Saturday, Nov. 18, at 10 p.m.at Social Games and Brews, 1007 W. Main St., Durham. They’ll have an evening of drag performances ranging from amateur to professional, with Stormie Daie as emcee.
