99.9 The Fan (WCMC FM, sports radio station of Capitol Broadcasting) ranked about midpoint (12th) among 25 Raleigh stations in November Nielsen audio ratings. Ratings were 3.0 in Nov 2023, 3.5 Oct, 3.1 Sep. 2.3 Aug. Sports ratings normally peak in fall and winter during football and basketball and slump in the spring and summer.

WUNC FM public radio (9.8) was first, FXC urban radio AC (8.8) second, TKR talk (6.9) third in November. They are a percentage of all listeners. All stations are not Nielsen members. WCHL, for instance, is not.

Schools are always looking for new sources of revenue, like Florida State starting an exclusive streaming channel (Seminoles Unconquered) for on-demand FSU content and sports. They will be available on Apple, Fio, Google Play, LG, Roku and Xbox. Wake Forest sold their stadium naming rights to Allegacy Federal Credit Union. Terms not announced. Notre Dame extended its NBC TV deal for football through 2029. Terms not announced, but they are expected to get $50M a year, plus $17M from the ACC. They did cede one game to the Peacock streaming network.

N.C. State broadcaster Gary Hahn, the last of the Triangle three most senior broadcasters, is retiring at the end of basketball season.

Bad stuff. The N&O charging $5.99 for the Thanksgiving issue, with skimpy news pages and only a few inserts. Years ago the higher price made more sense when carriers struggled with giant issues.

The stats watch is on. Top five ACC teams in the NET rankings DEc. 9 were Clemson 17, Virginia 23, UNC 36, Miami 37, Pittsburgh 42. KenPom: UNC 16, Duke 17, Va. 23. Clemson 26, Niami 38. You don’t want to know where Notre Dame, Louisville are.
