NC Wildflower Of The Year

Hollow-stem joe-pye-weed, a native perennial and member of sunflower family, was named the N.C. Wildflower of the Year by the N.C. Botanical Garden and Garden Club of NC Inc.

Beginning in mid-summer and lasting into early fall, hollow-stem joe-pye-weed comes into full glory with dramatic clouds of large domed flower heads, each one composed of numerous tiny mauve-pink flowers.
