New Pay Rates Help Fill Jobs

Jordan Lake State Recreation Area filled 71 of 85 seasonal positions, according to park officials. They pay ticket booth operators $10/ hr and general utility workers $12/hr. The new pay rates started in May and made hiring workers easier. In previous years, pay was lower, near minimum wage level, and often contributed to high turnover rate. Positions involve weekend and holiday hours in the heat of summer.

Hiring for Jordan Lake continues at the State Parks office. Fill out an application at the Jordan Lake park office/visitor center near the bridge on US 64 or online.

At Jordan, entrance fees ($7/vehicle/day, seniors (62+) $5/day, bus/van $20/day) are charged daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day and weekends and holidays in April, May and September. Annual passes ($90) are sold only at park offices at Jordan, Falls, Kerr Lake for one vehicle admission daily. Passes expire Dec. 31 and are not prorated.
