Orange County athletes earned medals in bocce, golf, tennis and soccer at Special Olympics North Carolina Fall Tournament in Charlotte where nearly 1,200 athletes competed in six sports.
Orange soccer teams earned a gold medal (Ferocious Thunder), two silver (Power Ranger Squad, Tigers) and bronze (Mighty Sharks) in 5V5 adult divisions.
Coaches were Lee Barnes, Pat Barnes, Pat Conway for Sharks; Mike Meyen, Rachel Meyen for Ferocious; John Waller, Joel Williams for Power Ranger; Tim Mehringer, Jonathan Wilson for Tigers.
