Rugby Golfers Raise $4,000

Aubrey Almond of Tobacco Road Rugby Club said, “We had a great event. More than 100 (socially distanced!) attendees for the Second Annual Rugby Charity Golf Tournament in Apex raised more than $4,000. That’s about what we did last year, but considering how difficult it was to find corporate sponsorship this year in the face of the pandemic, I’m very pleased. Attendance was up 20 percent over last year.”

“There are no games on the schedule at the moment,” he added. “The earliest we would return to play is the Spring, but the Rugby Union is being cautious so we don’t have an actual schedule. We’re doing socially distanced fitness-based training, and that will continue through December. We’ll make the call on getting started again come the new year.”
