Ruby Lapham (21:09) of Hillsborough was first 13-19 and H. Kim Lyerly (25:01) of Chapel Hill second 60-69 at 23rd Komen Triangle Race for the Cure 5K in RTP (405 finishers for competitive event). WT was 19:39.

Bradley Potts (17:45) and Tara Walhart (22:43) were the winners at BCAN 5K in Chapel Hill (29 finishers).

Marion Houser (2:36:26) of Chapel Hill was third 50-59 at Ocracoke HM (89 finishers), and Carl Bose (40:35) of Pitts­boro third 70+ in 5K (346).

Daniel Foster (5:54.89) of Chapel Hill was top local finisher (sixth) at Fifth Hill Mile in Durham (292 finishers). WT was 5:26.62.

Spencer Husen (17:04) of Hillsborough was first 20-24 at 19th Second Empire 5K Classic in Raleigh (266 finishers) where a new men’s record (16:07) was set. Old record was 16:19.

Jacobie Petterson (1:57:59) of Chapel Hill was first 20-29 at Owl’s Roost Rumble Trail HM (147 finishers), while Martha Hamblin (50:53) of Mebane was third 60-69 in 4 Miler (153). WTs were 1:27:07 (HM) and 29:19.

Matthew Holtry (21:58) of Chapel Hill was third male overall at Haliwa-Saponi 5K in Hollister (71 finishers). WTs were 19:00 and 27:07.

Best N.C. time at Boston M was 2:33:32. Top local showings: Allen Baddour, 2:52:53, Elise Easterling 3:07:00.

Taylor Adams (39:52) of Chapel Hill was first 20-29 at Core Sound 5K at Harkers Island (55 finishers). WT was 35:39.

Orange County Special Olympics hosted a track invitational at East Chapel Hill High with Wake, Durham, Cumber­land and Davidson counties. There were about 100 athletes.

The Jim Valvano Kids Klassic charity golf event at Duke will add a 5K race on Al Buehler Trail July 13. Registration is under way.

Piedmont Masters will put on their second masters T&F meet (20 events for ages 30+) Aug. 16-17 at Durham County Stadium.

The 26th Angels Among Us 5K in Durham had 1,703 finishers, up from 863 last year, with 2,566 registered. No home­towns listed so there’s no story here. The Duke office downtown that processes race entry checks was severely damaged by a gas explosion last month. If your check hasn’t cleared, call 919-684-2351.

The annual Doughman race in Durham was not held this year.
