Summer soccer, basketball, hockey leagues are getting organized, and plans for fall leagues are in the works with signups under way or coming soon.
OCASL Soccer has six divisions for summer including the return of women 8V8 and two new options (Over 50 and Open 8s). Check website for details. Players register online at ocasl.org. Leagues run late May through July.
Orange County men’s basketball has May 24 registration deadline. League plays Sunday-only 1-9 p.m. at Central Rec Center, Hillsborough from June 9 through Aug. 18. Cost is $415 /team for ages 16+. They’re looking for 4-16 teams. Call 919-245-2660 about free agent option. Signup is by teams.
Orange County Sportsplex, Hillsborough, has four TAHL non-checking summer adult hockey leagues. Three have started. B League, the most competitive, starts May 19. Teams play one night a week. Contact hockey director Mike Law at 919-644-0339 ext. 243 about joining a team. Fees may be pro-rated.
Carrboro has fall co-rec softball and fall co-rec ultimate that start in mid August. A $200 deposit is required for softball (with balance due later), $40/player fee for ultimate. Tentative deadlines are July 26 for softball, Aug. 9 for ultimate. Softball plays Tue/Thu, ultimate Mon/Wed at Anderson Park.
Orange County offers Sunday-only afternoon co-rec softball league starting in early August at Cedar Grove Park north of Hillsborough. Signup begins July 1, ends about July 26. Details TBA. Check the county’s summer rec brochure out in mid June for more info.
