UNC Boxers Start Fall 4-1

The UNC Boxing Club is off to a strong start with a 4-1 record. Here’s an update:

UNC Boxing opened its season with the annual WRBA Charity Smoker in Richmond, VA. UNC’s Tai Huynh decisively won his debut bout against Lockhaven’s Avery Drake at 139lbs. UNC’s Le Ho boxed Navy’s Jake Clary at 125lbs. After an exciting and close first round Le opened the second with a right hand that literally knocked Clary for a loop. Le kept up the momentum and won by unanimous decision.

UNC’s Jake Beeson boxed West Point’s Jordan Elliott at 195lbs. Despite Beeson setting the pace of the match and finishing strong, Elliott was awarded the win by split decision. UNC’s Loc Ho won a unanimous decision against Navy’s Tanner Strawbridge at 132lbs in a match punctuated fast counters against bombs thrown by Strawbridge.

UNC boxers Le Ho and Tai Huynh traveled to OH for the Cincinnati Athletic Club Invitational. Le Ho won a competitive match against UConn’s Brandon Tuccanardi at 125lbs. Huynh out jabbed and out maneuvered Miami of OH’s Brett Trimbur and won a unanimous decision at 147lbs.
