UNC Hockey Posts 4 Wins

UNC hockey club is off to a strong start (4-1) after posting two 6-3 wins over Uni­ver­sity of Richmond, newest member of Atlantic Coast Collegiate Hockey League.

Richmond is part of UNC’s Carolina East division of ACCHL with N.C. State and Wil­mington. Duke, Elon, Charlotte, Wake make up Carolina West.

Carolina started the season with a 2-1 win at Christopher Newport. Six different players (Kyle Oliveira, Chris Adamson, John Beeson, Matt Gellatly, Josh Carlson, Patrick Kramer) scored as UNC downed Richmond 6-3 on the road. UNC led 3-2 after 2 and rolled Duke 6-2 in Hillsborough. Gellatly scored twice.

Elon handed UNC first loss 6-5 in OT in Hillsborough. Goal scorers included Daniel Jones, Noah Friedman, Mason Regan (two), Oliveira. UNC goalie Will Douthit was named ACCHL player of the week Sep. 20.

UNC rebounded after loss with 6-3 decision over Richmond in Hillsborough. Beeson, Adamson had goals.
