Lister Honored For Golf Service

Former CSN golf columnist Henry Lister of Chapel Hill was honored with a distinguished service award by the Carolinas Golf Association of Southern Pines which runs hundreds of tournaments and events annually. Over 17 years Lister wrote 112 columns and stories for CSN. He retired last year.

“Some months I miss it. But my brain isn’t what it used to be, nor is my golf game,” he said last month.

Lister received the Charles E. Lynch  Jr. Distinguished Service Award for a volunteer who has gone above and beyond to grow the game throughout the Carolinas. He has been an active  CGA volunteer since 2002.

With 22 years of course rating experience, Lister has rated over 66 unique courses and completed over 100 ratings courses and has rated every course in the Triangle area twice. He is also on the N.C. Golf Panel whose purpose is to rank the top 200 courses in North Carolina.
