North Carolina Pro Golf Visits

The May 15-18 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club, Charlotte, heads the pro golf events in the Tar Heel state for 2025. It’s one of the sport’s four major annual champion­ships, draws the top players in the world and for the first time tickets include food and non-alcoholic beverages.

The July 31-Aug. 3 Wyndham Championship at Sedge­field CC, Greensboro, is the second PGA Tour stop.

The Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte found a new sponsor (Truist Financial) and moved to Philadelphia May 8-11 this year to make way for the PGA. It has a $20M purse and returns to Charlotte next year as part of the new contract.

Locally, The UNC Health Open, formerly Rex Hospital Open, will be May 29-June 1 at Raleigh Country Club, part of the Korn Ferry Tour, the developmental arm for rising players. Tickets are $20/day, $40 for the weekend. Purse is $1M.

The 25th SAS Championship takes place Oct. 10-12 at Prestonwood CC, Cary, part of the Champions Tour for senior players 50+. Purse is  $2.1M. They need 700 volunteers. Check saschampionship.com for details on tasks and signing up.
