Skipper Mark Gise (Thistle) of Lake Norman Yacht Club won the 67th Governor’s Cup Regatta at Kerr Lake. He had two firsts, two thirds (8 points) in four races over two days in Henderson. The award goes to the winner of the regatta’s largest division, (Thistle 11 boats).
Sara Paisner (Thistle) of the host Carolina Sailing Club was second and the top female skipper. She battled Gise, posting a first, second, third, fourth, 10 points.
Top junior skipper was Graham Robbins (420) of RTP High School.
Division winners from Carolina Sailing Club were Stephen Chobet, Isotope ( 5 boats); Open Monohull Fleet, Rick Klevans (10); Alan Taylor, four firsts, Weta (5). There were nearly 50 boats from clubs across the Carolinas in six divisions.
