The City of Durham owns Hillandale Golf Course which is in the design stage for an upgrade by Gary Holton Golf Design of Plover, WI.
From the city website: “Renovation of HGC to include new putting greens, relocation of tee boxes, golf course drainage, irrigation and other amenities.” The budget is approximately $1M. No details were provided. Golfers at Hillandale received survey questions following spring rounds and were asked their thoughts about improvements.
The public golf course was donated to the city by John Sprunt Hill in 1911 and moved to the current location in 1961, designed by George Cobb.
