UNC hockey split the first two games of the second part of the 50th season, losing 6-3 to West Chester and topping Temple 3-2 in Hillsborough. A key UNC defender Florian Zajac graduated in December.
Two games with Oregon and Louisville were canceled by winter weather. A game with NC State was added but later postponed when the power at the arena in Morrisville failed. After a 1-1 start, Cincinnati rolled to an 8-2 win in Charlotte. A second game was canceled.
Remaining games: Feb. 19 at N.C. State (Senior Night for both teams), Morrisville, 8:30 p.m., and Feb. 21-22 at Lehigh. UNC (6-13–1-0-1, 19 points) is in cellar (tenth place) in ACHA Div. 1.
