YOUTH FISHING CLINIC

The first youth fishing clinic of the season for ages 5-15 takes place Saturday, March 21, 9-11 a.m. at Anderson Park Pond off NC54W, Carrboro. Clinic focus is learning the basics. Cost is $5.00 and a parent or guardian must attend. Register at WebTrac. Supplies are furnished; bring a fishing rod if you have one or use a cane pole from Carrboro. Other clinics are April 18, May 9.

Falls Lake SRA will hold its 9th annual Youth Fishing Tournament for ages 5-13 April 25 starting at 8:30 a.m. at Beaverdam Rec Area off Wake Forest Road, Raleigh. Call 984-867-8000 to register.

BALD EAGLE PADDLES

Bald eagle search paddles, organized by Two Sisters Adventure Co. of Durham, will be held 3/26 9-1, 4/26 8:30-12, 5/9 8-12 at Jordan Lake’s Farrington Point canoe ramp. Cost is $60/person for  a 4-hour trip. Register at connect@twosistersadventure.com. Single person kayaks provided. Program is part of Connect 250.

BOATING AMERICA CLASS

Jordan Lake Flotilla 9-11 (U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary) offers  a Boating America class monthly in Cary—March 21, April 18, May 16, 9-5, at Bass Pro Shop. Cost is $25.00 for materials. Contact David Kapthammer, aux0911fc@gmail.com. The eight-hour class covers topics like boating law, safety equipment, safe operation & navigation.

ETITION TO REVOKE

A change.org petition to the Durham City Council to  revoke the rezoning of land adjacent to Sandy Creek Park in SW Durham for apartments had 2160+ signers in late Feb­ru­ary. Sandy Creek Park is a 100+ acre natural area and popular birding spot near Pickett Road. The council approved the rezoning 4-3 in March 2025.
