The state’s top golf event, the Truist Championship, takes place May 7-10 at Quail Hollow Club, Charlotte, site of the 2025 PGA Championship. Purse is $20M. The Truist was displaced last year and was played in Pennsylvania. Years ago it was sponsored by Wachovia and Wells Fargo in Charlotte.
It’s the first of three PGA events in the state this year: Wyndham Championship, Aug. 6-9, Sedgefield CC, Greensboro ($8.5M purse) and the inaugural Biltmore Championship Asheville at the Jack Nicklaus-designed Cliffs at Walnut Cove, Sep. 17-20 ($5M purse). It’s Asheville’s first tour event since 1942.
