The 19th Tar Heel Ten Miler and related races last month marked the busiest day for running in Chapel Hill. There were 7,997 finishers, 181 more than last year, for the 10M/ 4M/Double Down.
Local runners dominated the leaderboards for the Double Down Challenge and 4 Miler, with an international runner winning the 10 Miler.

Allen Baddour (1:25:00) and Hana Baskin (1:28:28), both of Chapel Hill, were the winners of the Double Down (14M, 1133 finishers, 514 women). Julien Isnard (1:26:40) of Chapel Hill was second and Miguel Beltre (1:28:13) of Carrboro third. Hallie Pike (1:34:43) of Carrboro was second female and Connie Mendoza Bruno (1:36:15) of Chapel Hill third. Neil Iyer, NYC, was first non binary, 2:12:41.

Laurel Hill Challenge
Can you conquer the hill? Corey Fairchild (5:30.2) of Chapel Hill took first in the Laurel Hill Challenge. It returned after a several year absence. Paige Hofstad (6:39.2) of Raleigh was the women’s leader (33rd). There’s a 163 foot elevation change between Laurel Hill below the Smith Center and the finish line. Nick Golebliouski (5:33.4) of Raleigh was second and Raferty Koontz (5:43.9) of Durham third.
4 Mile Results
Raleigh runners Eli Maskowitz (19:23) and Adalyn Fleming (23:06) were the leaders in the 4 Miler (2139 finishers, 1436 women, down 80 from last year). John Tatter, Chapel Hill, was second, 19:23, and Patrick Anderson, Chapel Hill, third, 23:06. Anne Amalong, Chapel Hill, was second, 26:09, and Mary Joy, Chapel Hill, third, 26:40.
In Non Binary, Katharine Sawoski, Durham, was first, 31:31, Madison Miller, Raleigh, second, 40:42, and Eggie Ng, Carrboro, third, 44:39.
