Trail Science of Chapel Hill, which built MTB trails at UNC Outdoor Education Center on the site of an old golf course, is about to start work on trails at Cedar Falls Park, Chapel Hill.
They rely on volunteers for weekend and evening workdays, followed by cookouts. They held a Bike Party to raise funds to get started last month.
The town’s statement to CSN was light on details: “Cedar Falls mountain bike trails, We have a volunteer group working on improving the existing trails and adding some new trails at Cedar Falls Park. They are funding the work, and we are helping with the purchase of some supplies.”
Chris Francis of Trail Science said, “Trail Science will be raising the capital and doing the work to refurbish the existing multi-use trail and build additional trail in the Cedar Falls park complex. Trail Science has built over 15 miles of trail in Orange County. We have built trail on UNC property before and are excited about this project because it will be our first collaboration with the Town of Chapel Hill. We hope that it will open up other opportunities to work with the town in the future.”
