Drought Conditions Continue In N.C.

Recent rain showers haven’t really impacted the drought conditions facing Tar Heel counties, but the N.C. Forest Service did drop the burn ban for outside fires, meaning fireworks can resume at Durham Bulls games and campers can cook dinner over small open fires at Jordan Lake. Just be careful.

N.C. Drought Monitor reported 59 percent of the state is in extreme drought as of May 7, 34 percent severe drought, 1 percent exceptional drought, 45 percent moderate drought. Triangle counties are in the extreme drought category. OWASA Water Watch said reservoirs were 85 percent full after recent rains.
