Pro Golf Visits N.C.

Four pro tournaments are coming our way including a new one in WNC.

The PGA’s Korn Ferry Tour for rising stars visits the Triangle May 28-31 for the UNC Health Championship ($1M purse) at Raleigh Country Club. Grounds pass is $20 and available online.

The Wyndham Championship (PGA Tour) will be played Aug. 7-9 at Sedgefield CC, Greensboro. Purse is $7.9M.

The Biltmore Championship Asheville will be held Sep. 17-20 at the Cliffs at Walnut Cove in Arden, a Jack Nicklaus-designed course. Tournament cosponsored by the Biltmore Estate and Explore Asheville. It’s the first PGA event in the area since 1942, will be held for four years as part of Fed­ExCup Fall and will be broadcast on the Golf Channel. Tickets reportedly range from $256-$462 daily and are limited. Purse is $5M. They’re looking for volunteers to help during the tournament.

The SAS Championship (Champions Tour) takes place Oct. 16-18 at Prestonwood CC in Cary. Purse is $2.1M.

The Truist Championship ($20M purse, PGA Tour) was held earlier in May in Charlotte.
