North Carolina is home to two of the four women’s basketball teams in the Upshot League, a new developmental pro league. Years ago the Charlotte Sting were part of the early WNBA.
Teams in the new venture are Charlotte Crown and Greensboro Groove. The others are in Jacksonville and Savannah. The season runs May through August. Games are on YouTube.
Reigan Richardson, a former Duke player, is on the Charlotte roster along with A.D. and Kiki McGill Jefferson from Louisville, Lete Grissett of Durham from South Carolina.
Other former ACC players: Megan McConnell (Pitt), Iyana Moore (Notre Dame), Dyasha Fair (Syracuse), Alivia Cochran (Louisville) are on Savannah Steel; Adat Bulgast (Fla. State), Brianna Turnage (Ga. Tech), Taylor Soule (Va. Tech) are on Jacksonville Waves.
