Megan Cooke (19:03) of Hillsborough was the women’s winner at the 36th Beat the Heat 5K in Winston-Salem. Men’s WT was 16:36 for the RRCA state championship, organized by Twin City TC of Winston. There were 645 finishers, up from 574 last year at the county fairgrounds.
WTs in the elite races were 14:28 for men (21) and 16:22 for women (7). Entry standards for the race were 17:00 men, 19:20 women.
