A free hands-on introduction to the Outdoor Skills Academy for Women event will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Alamance County Wildlife Club in Graham.
“By sampling a range of outdoor skills at this event, participants can begin building confidence, fostering connections and deepening their commitment to conservation,” said Western Engagement & Education Supervisor Casey Williams. “When women are able to explore these activities hands-on, they don’t just gain knowledge—they uncover new passions and become empowered stewards of North Carolina’s wild spaces.”
The event runs from 8-4. Pre-registration at license.gooutdoorsnorthcarolina.com is required and participants must be at least 16 years. No prior experience is required for any of the four sessions, which include:
Introduction to Shotgun
Fly Fishing Basics
Hunting, Regulations & Tree Stands
Wild Habitats—native plant restoration, invasive species control, creating environments for local wildlife, sustainable land use practices
