Allen & Son Goes Undefeated In Carrboro Co-Rec

Allen & Son ripped 401 Main 18-6, completing an undefeated season in the fall Carr­boro Co-Rec Softball League.

They went 11-0 in the regular season and breezed through three postseason games, beating second place 401 twice.

AS scored eight times in the first with a mix of singles, doubles, walks and a Mike Olenoski HR, adding one in the second, two in the third using the same formula. For the game, Olenoski hit two bombs, Derrick Jef­fries one, Matt Moody had four hits, three runs. Brent Norris homered for 401 Main.

Coach Catherine Griffin said offensive MVPs for the season were Olenoski, Moody, Jeffries, while pitcher Brian Gilmore guided the defense.

She offered a shoutout to superfan Phillip Reid Gilmore, the pitcher’s son who’s battled health issues throughout. His smile and clapping at every game kept everyone’s spirits high.
