Shane Fitzgerald (18:27) and Elena Rappold (21:31), both 14 years of age, were the leaders at N.C. Head for the Cure 5K in Chapel Hill. Blake Boville (28:16) was the first survivor. Jeff Nieman (21:14) and Kristi Hildebrand (23:25) were masters leaders. There were 301 finishers, up from 243 last year. The race was one of 23 held across the country to raise money for the Head for the Cure Foundation in Kansas City for brain cancer research. Hometowns N/A.
