For hunters getting their first N.C. hunting license, taking Hunter Ed classes is a must. They are free, offered in each county and require pre-registration. Here are some that start in September/October:
Sep. 22-23, 6-9 p.m., Jordan Lake State Forest Education Building, 2832 Big Woods Rd., Chapel Hill. Registration starts Aug. 15. Other classes: Oct, 14-15, 6-9 p.m., same location; Oct. 21-22, Bahama Volunteer Fire Dept., Bahama Rd., Durham, 6-9 p.m. Attendance for both days is required. Register at register-ed.com.
