Bald eagles are flourishing at Jordan Lake.
Here’s the latest update from Jon Bannerman, Supervisory Natural Resources Specialist/Acting, Corps of Engineers at Jordan Lake:
First fledglings – Late March.
Last fledglings – Early June.
Total nests 25 (no change from 2024-25).
Total nests with confirmed fledged chicks 13 (up 2 from 2024-25).
Total fledged chicks 23 ( up 2 from 2024-25).
This is the sixth consecutive year Jordan had at least one nest with 3 fledged chicks. There were two sets of triplets this year.
There were three new nests discovered during the nesting season this year. One confirmed active, one possibly active, one inactive.
