McLaughlin Wins Hanging Man

Kelly McLaughlin (6:13:55) of Chapel Hill was the women’s winner at the challenging Hanging Man Triathlon in Danbury (14). The men’s winner was Steven Suggs (5:27:39) of Durham.

Here’s what they did: bike 26m, run 4.7m, swim 500 yards, run 0.5m, swim 500 yards, run 5.5m, swim 500 yards, run 5m, swim 500 yards, run 0.5m. Many stages involved big elevation gains.

The U.S./Canada/Mexico host the 48-team event starting June 11, 104 matches at 16 venues (13 in the U.S.).

The U.S. opener is June 12 at 9 p.m. in California. Game 2 June 19 against Australia in Seattle and game 3 against Turkey. June 25 in Los Angeles.
