5th Pocket Skateparks Inc. of Pa. will renovate the 25-year-old Homestead skateboard park. Cost is $609,750, paid for by federal ARPA funds (CSN, Oct 2024). Contract approval was on the town council consent agenda last month after the fourth bid. 5th Pocket built the new skatepark at Cates Creek Park south of Hillsborough.
The design at Homestead includes spaces for both beginner and intermediate skaters and a variety of elements, including rails, quarter pipes, banks and ledges. The new skatepark will be built with steel-reinforced concrete to replace the wood-framed ramps. Construction is expected to start in mid to late 20025, city officials said.
