Summer Soccer, Basketball Leagues

Registration for summer soccer (ocasl@ tasl) and men’s basketball leagues is under way. Soccer starts early June, hoops May 31.

Basketball plays Sunday afternoons only (2:30-8:30 p.m.) at Central Rec Center, downtown Hillsborough. Cost is $395/team. Register on the Orange County website by 5/17. Free agents can call 919-245-2660 to be added to an interest list for coaches. Players must be 18+.

OCASL offers over 30, 40, 50 8v8 ($105/ player) and recreational 11v11 ($115/player) divisions. Sign up at tasl.us. Games run through 8/29.

For info on summer ice hockey leagues (they play one night a week), contact Orange Co. Sportsplex, Hillsborough, 919-644-0389. They’re non-checking.

The U.S./Canada/Mexico host the 48-team event starting June 11, 104 matches at 16 venues (13 in the U.S.).

The U.S. opener is June 12 at 9 p.m. in California. Game 2 June 19 against Australia in Seattle and game 3 against Turkey. June 25 in Los Angeles.
