The Tampa Bay Rays will play 2025 home games at George Steinbrenner Field (capacity 11,026) in Tampa, the spring training home of the N.Y. Yankees after Hurricane Milton ripped off the roof at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. Plans for a new stadium for TB remain in flux.
The Rays are the parent club of the Durham Bulls (Triple A) whose home opener is April 1 at DBAP.
After 17 years of trying to find a new stadium, Rays owner Stu Sternberg reportedly is being pressured to sell the team by MLB commissioner Rob Manfred and other owners as potential buyers eye the franchise, Yahoo Sports reported in early March.
Citing hurricanes and costly delays, Tampa Bay will not proceed with the development of a $1.3 billion stadium in St. Petersburg, Sternberg said March 13.
