The Tampa Bay Rays, parent club of the Durham Bulls, will get a new 31,000-seat stadium in 2029 after financing plans for the $2.3B project, part of an entertainment district, were approved by the city and county.
The new stadium in Tampa will replace Tropicana Field (The Trop) in St. Petersburg, 21 miles away, and is across the street from Raymond James Stadium (NFL), ending nearly a decade of discussion about the club’s long-term MLB home.
