ToRo Makes Rugby Playoffs

In recent matches, Tobacco Road men’s rugby lost 49-31 to league-leading Cape Fear in Durham and defeated Southern Pines by forfeit due to injuries and low numbers.

The forfeit gave them 5 points and second place in D3 east with 26 total points, edging Fayetteville’s 25. ToRo was 4-1-3 in fall/spring matches and advanced to the  playoffs against west division leader and defending champion Columbia Rhinos 3/15 in the semis in Columbia. They played only 6 matches, went 4-0-2 for 20 points. Onslow was fourth with 21 and SoPi (9) fifth. Fear hosts Greenville Griffins (SC) in the other semi.

Earlier, Arnold “Crispy” Craig scored four tries and Evan Barbaryka one against Cape Fear. They were the back and forward of the match for ToRo. Jack Sears added three conversions.
