UNC hockey club lost 4-3 to Louisville in the first round of SE regionals in Evansville, IN, where 12 MD2 teams battled for four slots at nationals. UNC was the 11th seed and finished the club’s 50th season 15-13-2-0-2. Indiana, Ohio U, Kentucky, Miami U advanced to the nationals in St. Louis March 14-18.
Ben Edwards, Matt Grady and Patrick O’Shaughnessy scored UNC goals in a game with only one penalty (Louisville). O’Shaughnessy and Andrew Smith had assists.
Results for other clubs in UNC’s ACCHL division: Va. Tech lost 3-2 to Ohio U in OT and N.C. State lost 6-5 to Miami U in 2OT.
