Cedar Grove Park Athletic Field #1 was renamed in honor of Willie Lawrence Vanhook.
The Orange County Commissioners honored the tobacco farmer, civil rights advocate, church leader, softball player /coach who helped start the Cedar Grove Athletic Association for youth and adult sports. A historical marker honoring Vanhook will be installed at the field.
