Winter weather was great for N.C. skiers and resorts, but not so much for Orange County men’s basketball (8 teams) and co-rec volleyball (10 teams) leagues. The start of two winter leagues in Hillsborough was delayed by two weeks. They are Sunday-only leagues.
The first two matches of the Tobacco Road men’s rugby season were canceled.
OCASL soccer league games were postponed. Standings are elsewhere in this issue.
The NASCAR Cookout Clash (exhibition race) at Bowman Gray Stadium, Winston-Salem, was delayed several days by the weather and finally held Feb. 4. There were so many caution stoppages and delays the live TV broadcast was bumped from Fox to FS1. Ryan Preece was the winner.
