UNC’s Naval Armory was included on the National Register of Historic Places, which should save it from demolition. The register is the official list of buildings deemed worthy of preservation because of their historical significance. The Naval Armory on South Columbia St. joins Old East, Playmakers Theater and the Carolina Inn as campus buildings in the register. UNC had plans to tear down the armory to make way for a new science building.

Kaden Honeycutt was the winner of the Orange Krush 200 lap late model race at Orange County Speedway, Rougemont. Deac McCaskill was second and Bobby McCarty third. The race raised $115,000 for the Wade Burton Wildlife Fund.
Chapel Hill Police charged a 21-year-old man with assaults last month on the greenway in Meadowmont. The CHPD stepped up patrols after two women reported that a man had inappropriately touched them, then learned about a third case.
